The Chairman of the Service Committee is Ian Brown
The Service Committee is responsible for local Community Service and International Service. This involves both fund raising activities and direct hands on activities.
Locally over the last few years we have provided funding for a number of local organisations including St Catherine’s Hospice, Air Training Corps, Salvation Army, the Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, Clifton Hill School, Tandridge Crossroads, MacMillan Cancer Care, Lily Foundation, PSDS, Surrey Air Ambulance, Dene Hospital, Bletchingley Skills Centre.
Internationally we have contributed to disaster relief all over the world mainly through a charity called Shelterbox which was started by the Rotary Club of Helston and the Lizard. In just over 10 years of existence they have become one of the leading first responders to disasters. Additionally we have supported another Rotary initiative in Sierra Leone called the Grafton Project – this is for 600 orphans, We have also supported Kimilee School in Kenya, this project was started by De Stafford School in Caterham. We have also supported Mercy Ships and the Lifeline express – both of which provide mobile medical facilities – by ship mainly in Africa and by train in India.
